Family Health Month 2012  

Since 2002, the Hong Kong Federation of Women has jointly organized with the Hospital Authority Health Information World, the Well Women Clinic of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and the Ma Chung Ho Kei Foundation an annual flagship programme namely the “Family Health Month”. Series of talks on various medical issues, health problems and free body check-ups constituted the main body of the programmes with over 70 seminars and talks having been held and more than ten thousand people attended during the last ten years.

The “Family Health Month 2012" has been successfully launched at the Hospital Authority Building in April this year. The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Mr. Cheung Kin Chung, G.B.S., J.P., Secretary for Labour & Welfare; Mrs. Chan Man Yee Wai, Chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Mrs. Stella Lau, Chairperon of Women's Commission. Mr. Cheung at his Keynote speech commented that the programme had started arousing the awareness of health issues among women who would then spread the idea to their beloved family members – a win-win way of promoting good health. Mrs. Chan gave credit to the “Family Health Month” project and wished that it could be carried on to further promote better understanding of health issues among the citizens of Hong Kong. The appearance of the celebrities Ms. Nancy Sit and  Mr. Siu Kwok Wah further graced the event. 1,500 people were attracted at the 7 talks. More than 200 lucky draw winners were awarded free “Bone density X-ray tests” and “Gynecology Tests”.
